By the main road stands this huge agricultural complex, almost lying down. Most of the ceilings couldn't take the weight, some of the floors, unfortunately, couldn't either. It has a lot of buildings, most of them have several floors, and behind this whole complex there are only foundations of houses that probably have not even been inhabited. Except for one deer that jumped out at me right at the entrance and gave me a heart attack. I haven't found out much about this place on the net, so if anyone has any info, I'd be glad :)
While walking around the dam, I came across an abandoned hotel, which according to the net has been abandoned for only three years. The barrier was open, the cameras disconnected except for one that was guarding the boat. Unfortunately none of the doors were open and the windows were boarded up from the inside, which is a shame, I think it hides a lot of communist furniture.
I've lived next door for 18 years, and only now have I plucked up the courage. A lady lived in the house with her mother and son the whole time. The lady was a huge collector. 4 years ago she moved out due to debt, foreclosures, etc and left everything in the house. Everything. Whatever you can think of, you'll find it there. It's crazy how much stuff you can accumulate in a few years. A lot of people think it's because of the homeless. Unfortunately, they've been living in this for years. She left her pictures, her clothes and the rest of her stuff. The saddest thing is they found her three dead, already dried dogs in the rooms. Funny thing was, all three were sitting in the corners. They weren't tied up. She even let one of them run around outside, the one I used to take care of before they put him in the shelter. Strong story, emotions, mixed feelings.
I visited the hospital for the third time, this time in daylight. I was more breathless than when I was there in the dark. I think it was because you could see much more detail. :)
On the way home from the mountains we managed to discover an abandoned barn, I didn't read much about it. Around 2012-2014 this building started to deteriorate. It looks like it was used to raise cattle, and now homeless people are sleeping there. (I should learn how to walk into abandoned buildings when the lights are on...)
The dilapidated complex with five huge buildings has been decaying since 1999 due to fears of flooding. In 2006 the site was auctioned and is currently being offered for sale again. The greatest charm of this complex is after dark. Missing original items, doors, crumbling roof and floors, homeless people sleeping in the rooms. Every now and then you forget to breathe. Next time I'll definitely have my DSLR with me :)
