The former company holiday home has stood abandoned for more than 20 years. The last owner, who used the property until the late 1990s, had difficulty making the building complex profitable or selling it. After the house accumulated debts of at least DM 30,000 per month, the owner reportedly hanged himself in the house's swimming pool, according to relevant online forums. However, this could not be verified. Since 1993, the building was occupied by the Federal Border Guard for a year. In November 2020, a fire completely destroyed the roof structure. Eighty firefighters battled the blaze.
