Hello, on February 22, 2026, I visited the well-known Javor 50 bunker. As you probably know, there are two other bunkers in the Czech Republic, Javor 51 and Javor 52. Currently, the buildings around the bunker have been demolished, and there are plans to fill in the bunkers. So God knows how long it will be possible to enter these bunkers.
The photos of the location were taken with a Canon EOS 1000D camera. A video of this bunker will be released on YouTube on February 28, 2026. History of the former Soviet nuclear storage facility

The construction of this top-secret facility took place between 1969 and 1972 as part of the secret military infrastructure built after the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops in August 1968. Based on the agreement on the "temporary stay" of Soviet troops, special storage facilities for nuclear ammunition were built in the Czech Republic.
The complex was built according to Soviet military standards. Its main part consisted of two massive reinforced concrete bunkers of type 12C with reinforced construction, hermetic doors, and technology enabling the regulation of the internal environment. The complex also included technical buildings, facilities for the crew, guard posts, and multi-level security measures, including fencing and checkpoints. The facility was guarded exclusively by the Soviet army and was subject to the highest level of secrecy.
During the 1970s and 1980s, tactical nuclear warheads intended primarily for the missile systems of the Czechoslovak army were stored here. However, these weapons remained under the full control of the Soviet Union. Czechoslovakia did not officially possess nuclear weapons; in the event of armed conflict, the warheads would have been handed over to selected units as part of the Warsaw Pact's operational plans.
After the political changes in 1989, it was decided to withdraw Soviet troops from Czechoslovakia. In 1990, the gradual removal of military equipment and nuclear warheads back to the Soviet Union began. The last Soviet soldier left the territory of the republic in June 1991.
The existence of these warehouses was only officially confirmed after the fall of the communist regime. Until then, their actual function was kept secret from the public. Today, these buildings are an important reminder of the Cold War period and evidence of the fundamental role played by Czechoslovak territory in the military plans of the Eastern Bloc.

Československo jaderné zbraně oficiálně nevlastnilo; v případě ozbrojeného konfliktu by byly hlavice předány vybraným jednotkám v rámci operačních plánů Varšavská smlouva.
V roce 1990 začal postupný odsun vojenské techniky i jaderných hlavic zpět do Sovětského svazu.
