It was one of the most important power plants. A project was developed during World War II, but it was not put into operation by the end of the war. A former lignite-fired power plant built in 1937, which supplied East Germany with electricity for nearly 60 years. After its closure in the 1990s, only the monumental halls, control rooms, and traces of its industrial past remained.
