Right next to it stand the dilapidated buildings of the milling operation and the sawmill itself. Looking at the remains of the powerful water channel, it’s almost unbelievable just how much power this place once had. According to historical sources, the clatter of machinery and the cutting of timber from the surrounding deep forests were powered by a single Francis turbine with an output of nearly 50 horsepower ($49.5 \text{ HP}$).The complex served several generations, with some interruptions, but its fate was sealed during the catastrophic once-in-a-century floods at the beginning of the 21st century. The flood completed the work of destruction and transformed the once-thriving sawmill into a mysterious, inaccessible ruin that is now slowly being swallowed up by the surrounding wilderness.
