Two boiler rooms, actually. Each at one end of the famous castle grounds, which was used by the school during the Bolshevik era and where I once visited and returned to photograph the church.

For me, the most interesting part is the chapel under the roof—how the workers who were repairing the roof, the roofers and carpenters, left their marks in the mortar on the attic walls. Otherwise, it has lost a lot of its charm due to improper maintenance—the Canadian shingles, the concrete floor under the roof, and so on. I sensed a rather unwelcoming atmosphere there upon entering.
You’re right—the church attic with those messages is definitely the most interesting part. But to me, the castle isn’t just the main building and the church; it’s everything that belongs to the complex, whether it’s the mill, the gardens with the orangery, or the farmyard. So they’ll explore the whole thing, not just what everyone else is rushing to see. The fact that there’s zero maintenance and the outhouses are falling apart really shocked me. I don’t understand the attitude of the folks from Mělník.
