Unfortunately, things don’t always work out. A year ago, I saw a video filmed right at this spot. The entire complex wasn’t as heavily guarded back then, and it looked like a great place to visit and take photos—not to mention that it likely contains the best-preserved artifacts, which are extremely rare.At first, I tried to figure out if we could block the cameras—even just for a moment—but we couldn’t. Then we found a single blind spot where none of the cameras were supposed to see us—and they didn’t—but that’s when the first problem arose. They say that the weakest link in any system is the human factor, but unfortunately, this time it was the opposite: a friend noticed a retired woman who was just heading out to light a cigarette and drink her coffee on the balcony of an apartment building adjacent to the complex. We worked around it and got inside through the chimney shaft. The second problem arose just when we thought we were in the clear and could start working—that’s when I heard footsteps. My friend and I climbed out, and barely a meter away from us, a security guard walked by with a Brazilian Fila on a leash and a “Security” sign. At that moment, our safety was our top priority, so we immediately got out of there.Today we know that the security guard was probably patrolling the adjacent area where cars were parked, but despite all that, we did what was best.In any case, there’s one thing I know for sure: no one knew about us, and no one knows about us to this day. That’s why I believe we’ll return to this place someday, and I’ll be able to post photos here that tell a truly powerful story.
