Vitkovice Ironworks, (Lower Vitkovice area) This album consists of an abandoned smelting hall that connects blast furnaces 4 and 6. In the future this smelting hall is going to be reconstructed, like any abandoned place that has not been reconstructed yet. Ever since my childhood when I walked by I dreamed of fully exploring these giants. Finally, that wish has come true. The whole place had an inexplicable atmosphere that I will never forget.

Fallout shelter at closed shaft

Over 80 metres high dominating the horizon of Karviná. It was built in 1981 and equipped with 500 tonne mining machines. It was in operation until the mine closed in 2019. Dust, silence and sensors. That's how one could describe the climb up this tower. Looking at a tower like this from afar, you might think there's an elevator at the bottom and a mining machine at the top. That's true, of course, but it's actually a complicated complex of rooms, each with its own purpose. From workshops and warehouses to giant ventilation engines, electrical stations and, of course, the mining machine. This tower, compared to others in the region, does not have a bright future. At the end of this month, it will be demolished, along with the buildings of the complex in which it is located.

I don't know the exact details of this pit, but it was exposed during the communist period. I made a visit to this legendary site in May, back when it was still possible to get there. I don't know what it looks like now, but I do know that they are already installing explosives in the skip tower, which will be demolished in a few weeks.
