The girls and I went to see the remains of a mid-18th century workers' settlement built by the upper class and rented by the inhabitants. Unfortunately, we can't find out much about it, but one of the two buildings we visited was apparently last used as a gamekeeper's lodge (although the original one has long since been demolished). It was a modest building, with one living room, a dry toilet on the porch, and most importantly, facilities for livestock. Amala, after enduring the long journey, curiously explored both buildings before we went for a walk around the area.
